Marlborough Open Studios 2009

MARLBOROUGH OPEN STUDIOS 2009 Around sixty local artists will be opening their doors to the public in July as the Marlborough Open Studios event begins. Each weekend during July, artists living within a twelve mile radius of Marlborough invite you to visit their studios. This year there will be 17 new artists joining the scheme complimenting the many returning artists who see this as an essential commitment in their creative calendar. The event will offer an exciting and varied insight into the lives of the artists and makers, exhibiting their work in their studios and a variety of other venues ranging from contemporary gallery spaces to traditional rural buildings. It will present a unique opportunity to meet and talk with each artist about their work, and a chance to purchase and commission items, or simply to just enjoy the experience.

The event will be launched on Sunday 28th June by local writer, Mavis Cheek at the White Horse Bookshop with an exhibition of works from participating artists. Retail shops in Marlborough High Street will also be supporting the event by exhibiting work in their windows as part of the “Marlborough Art trail” initiative. The Nataraj Art Space in Marlborough will be holding a taster exhibition of work from every artist taking part this year, opening on Friday 3rd. July and running until the end of the month.
