In recent years our Day Schools have covered

And topics for the Autumn Conference have been

In October 2006 we were delighted to have Mick Aston, John Chandler, James Clark and Graham Brown talking on Monasteries in the Landscape.

The 2007 Day School on 28 April was held at Devizes Museum where we were introduced to the WANHS Library Collections which are a hugely rich source for local historians in the county.

On 6 October 2007 our Conference looked at the interpretation of historic houses, and was held at Bromham in the village Social Centre. For 'Stately Homes Revisited' we were delighted to welcome four eminent speakers to our programme. Three of them examined contrasting large houses and estates – Terry Stevens on Tyntesfield, Barry Williamson on New Wardour, and Karen Rudd on Mompesson House in Salisbury; and Madge Dresser explored the relationships between stately homes and slavery, a very topical issue for 2007. As usual there was time for questions and discussion.

The 2008 Day School was held at the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre in Chippenham when we explored the rich resources available there for local historians.

Our 2008 Autumn Open Day on the topic of music will be held on 4 October.

Booking forms will be circulated to members shortly before each event. Where numbers are restricted, members of the Forum (or of member societies) ae given preference. Enquiries should be addressed to WLHF (Events) Tanglewood, Laverstock Park, Salisbury SP1 1QJ.
