Public liability insurance is
available, free of charge,
It is provided by ANSVAR insurance
through Keegan & Pennykid (Insurance
Brokers) Ltd and funded by the
Community Watch Forum, the new national
forum for neighbourhood watch.
But ...
To be covered, individuals must be
members of households which are, at the
time of an incident, recorded as
members of Schemes which are:
a) Registered with the Wiltshire &
Swindon NHW Association
b) Recorded on the Wiltshire
Police NHW Database (Known as CMS)
To maintain this cover the Association
must notify the Insurace Company every
month of the total number of Schemes
and Households which
meet the above criteria. As of the 04
August 2007 the current totals are:
3582 (July 3564)
Schemes and 53,730 (July 53,460)
Households.
As this information is taken from the
Police Database (CMS) [i]DETAILS OF ANY NEW
SCHEMES CREATED OR EXISTING ONES
DISBANDED, MUST AT THE EARLIEST
OPPORTUNITY BE GIVEN TO YOUR NHWLO
(Neighbourhood Watch Liaison
Officer) so that the CMS can be updated.
Scheme Coordinators should also
ensure that they maintain a written
record of the households in thier Scheme
Claims..
In the event that you require to make a
claim under the Associations public
liability insurance policy, you should
contact the claims department of Keegan
& Pennykid (Insurance Brokers) Ltd by
telephoning 0131 225 6005.
The Insurance Company will contact the
Association to confirm that the
Scheme / Household making a claim met
the above criteria at the time of the
incident.
This is why the maintenance of
accurate records is IMPORTANT TO YOU !!
Remember..
You might not be covered by the Policy
if you: Admit, Deny, Negotiate or
Settle a relevant claim without the
written consent of the Insurance
Company or Keegan & Pennykid (Insurance
Brokers) Ltd
