Our Priorities

Image 1 for Our Priorities

The Council's priorities for the current year are :

  • improved communication with the Parish
  • the hard standing for the Youth of Urchfont at the playing field
  • installation of play facilities in other parts of the village
  • support for the Parish Plan and Village Design Statements
  • creation of a lay-by and footpath for the school
  • to become a Quality Parish
  • a review of Tree Preservation Orders within the Parish
  • a Traffic Management Plan for the Parish

Urchfont Parish Council represents the communities of Urchfont, Wedhampton and Lydeway, and in doing so :
  • represents the interests of local residents
  • owns the cemetery and allotments
  • rents the playing field from Wiltshire County Council and provides play equipment there
  • is responsible for the Urchfont village pond
  • is consulted over individual development plans where planning permission is required, and other planning matters
  • provides amenity skips - an increasingly used facility
  • awards grants for the benefit of local people - subject to legal limits and the annual budget
  • has responsibility for the triangle, and the top and bottom greens with their seats and litter bins
  • channels information and requests to/from other authorities
  • provides notice boards for parish information
