Urchfont Community Shop

After several years of hard work by many people in the Community the Urchfont Community Shop and Post Office opened its doors to the public on Saturday 19th February 2005. Urchfont Community Shop

The shop is open seven days a week 08.30 - 17.30 Monday to Friday, 09.00 - 15.00 on Saturday and 10.30 - 12.30 on Sunday.

The Post Office is open Mon, Tues and Thur from 09.00 –12.30 and 14.30 - 17.00; Wed 09.00 - 12.30; and on Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00.

The shop is staffed by volunteers from the community and offers a range of goods including dairy products, bread, tinned and packet items as well as stationery, vegetables and the other items which we can all run out of at inconvenient times. Our aim is to sell as much local produce as is practicable.

The post office, run by Christine Dolan, provides a range of services including withdrawal of cash with a Chip-&-PIN card from any major bank; other day-to- day banking if you bank with Alliance & Leicester, Barclays, the Co-op, or Lloyds; pensions and benefits; bill payments; insurance etc; and of course, posting letters and parcels.

As well as the shop and post office the building also provides a local information centre complete with local notice boards.

The Urchfont Community Shop Association runs the shop building. UCSA Ltd is a not for profit organisation owned by the community of Urchfont.
