Welcome to the Urchfont Community Web.

The parish of Urchfont comprises the communities of Urchfont, Wedhampton and Lydeway and is located approximately five miles east of Devizes in the county of Wiltshire. The communities lie within the Vale of Pewsey, nestling beneath the northern escarpment of Salisbury Plain.

The area around Urchfont has been inhabited for several thousand years, with evidence of at least two tumuli recorded on Urchfont Hill, which overlooks the parish. By the time of the Domesday survey in 1086 the ancient parish of Urchfont was recorded as a substantial settlement belonging to the Abbess of St. Mary's, Winchester. The parish has continued to grow and develop, now being home to approximately 1100 people.

This site brings together the wide range of facilities and interests available within the communities and complements the Urchfont Parish Council website, which is also maintaned by the parish.
